News & Events

Yearly Events

September

Family Picnic

In late September our new and returning families share a picnic meal on the school grounds. The children enjoy planned games and activities and parents have the opportunity to socialize. This is a casual, fun-filled event that parents and children alike look forward to each year.

October

Alumni Bonfire

Each year on the last Friday before Halloween alumni are invited to the school for our annual bonfire.  It is a great opportunity for former students to reconnect with former classmates.

Harvest Fun Fest

Families are invited for an afternoon of fall-themed activities including a costume parade, games, delicious seasonal treats, and creative arts and crafts.

November

Apple Pie Making
On the Monday before Thanksgiving break, our students take part in a cherished school tradition—baking their very own homemade apple pies to bring home for the holiday. With the help of parent volunteers, children roll out dough, fill their pies with fresh apples, and experience the joy of creating something special to share with their families.

December

Children’s Shopping Spree
The children’s Christmas shopping spree takes place during the second week in December. Each family is required to donate 15 – 20 items to the event. Each child has the opportunity to go shopping for their family members. The children make a list of relatives they wish to buy gifts for. Items are moderately priced to fit their budget. The older children help the younger children with their shopping. They also wrap their gifts in order for them to be a surprise. They really enjoy this special day.

Tree Lighting Ceremony
A special evening to celebrate the holiday season with family and friends. Enjoy the glow of the tree as we come together for caroling, a live nativity, and a visit from Santa Claus. It’s a wonderful way to share in the joy of the season and create lasting memories in our community.

January

Catholic Schools Week
Catholic Schools Week is held during the last week in January leading into the first week of February. Special daily events are planned for the week. The events may include a prayer service, people from the community reading to the children, game day, ice cream social, book swap, and much more.

May

Family & Friends Day (formerly Grandparents/Parents Day)
This day starts with visiting your child’s classroom and learning about the jobs your child has been doing throughout the year. A book fair is also held in the library. Everyone enjoys a picnic lunch outside on the grounds. The day concludes with the students performing a concert on the lawn.

Teacher’s Appreciation Day
This event is held to thank our teachers, teacher assistants, and staff for all their hard work and dedication to our children. Volunteer parents prepare a delicious luncheon while other volunteer parents supervise the children at recess so that the staff can enjoy this special luncheon.

Golf Tournament

The golf tournament takes place in May and is one of our annual fundraisers for the school. The event consists of teams of four golfers with a shotgun start (everyone begins at the same time at different holes). If you are not a golfer, you can still enjoy the dinner that follows the tournament.

June

Field Day
On the Friday that is the last day for the younger children, students in the Upper Elementary classes prepare field day for the whole school. Everyone enjoys the creative games and activities that the older children prepare.

Sixth-Year Luncheon
The Sixth-Year Luncheon is held in June to celebrate the sixth-years completion of our Montessori program at EMS. The parents of the fifth-years make the food for this special luncheon and the fifth-year students serve the food. The sixth-years are able to invite two members from their family to celebrate with them. It is truly a memorable event for everyone.
